AI Tools for Consultants in 2026

“How will the market look in 2026 for boutique consultants?”

I asked this question to ChatGPT, and the response was telling.  I added on to my original query:

“Are there companies who would be currently looking for quality management consultants?”

Not only was it telling, it provided us strategic opportunities to target companies who could potentially require our services.

If you are a consultant, and especially a small consultancy, and have not adopted AI technology, at least minimally for market information, predictions, or even to help with work, you could help yourself by saving time running queries for information.  Here’s a list of what we have been using AI for:

  1. Gathering addresses, phone numbers, and other information for our CRM database.  AI can scrape the web for the missing information.  Even if you only have the company name, AI can get the information into a formatted excel sheet, so all you have to do is import the updated list into your CRM application.
  2. Querying businesses who are potentially seeking consultants or have job openings targeting the types of services we provide.  I asked this from ChatGPT and I was given a list of 10 Fortune 500 companies who were in the market for quality management services.
  3. Querying AI for a strategic outlook for 2026 related to boutique consultancies who provide QMS software services, Software training services and ISO9001 services.  The list was massive.  The best part was you could either tailor the query for additional information, or AI would tailor it for you.  It literally filtered down to providing us with a one-pager suited for our offerings in 2026.

Now don’t get me wrong, the pros come with the cons.  There are certain things related to our queries that AI cannot do.  It cannot retrieve email addresses for our CRM data (perhaps I have not mastered that query yet?).  It also had some issues with the formatting for certain empty columns, but that could be easily cleaned up.

I’m sure there are other AI tools besides ChatGPT that could potentially provide more information, or better data, but as a small consultancy getting started, the information provided has certainly been helpful in getting us information that would have taken us weeks or months to retrieve.  Now, it’s minutes.
